My name is Heather Ellen Yamauchi, and I am a self-published author, poet, and literary critic.  I am the owner, editor, and creator of this blog.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Maine where I also minored in both Medieval & Renaissance Studies and English.

Genres I enjoy writing include fantasy, historical fiction, and epic tales.  I draw much inspiration from authors like Brandon Sanderson, Celia S. Friedman, George R.R. Martin, and J.R.R. Tolkien.

Some favorites include sunflowers, the color blue, black diamonds, swimming, vampires, musicals, penguins, cats, research, video gaming, books, pizza, pasta, making lists, Netflix marathons, and maps.

Apart from writing furiously, my hobbies include reading, cinema, nature walks, cooking and eating cultural ethnic foods, and spending time with my family and pets.

    • I do indeed. I love his writing style. It is immensely impressive to me at how well he can capture the thoughts and minds of a woman main character. That being said, I loved Elantris and the book Warbreaker, which he wrote as an alternative to Elantris.
